Vehicle Rollover

Forrest & Bourne Specializes in Handling Sport Utility Vehicle Rollover Cases

Vehicle rollover accidents came to public attention in well-publicized cases involving the Ford Explorer sport utility vehicle and the tire maker Firestone. Because of their higher center of gravity, trucks, SUVs and 15 passenger vans are more likely to roll in a collision or sudden avoidance maneuver than cars. These rollover accidents are more likely to cause death or serious injury.

The danger has not gone away. Today's SUVs and vans still have a tendency to roll in accidents. Even so, almost one-half of all new registered vehicles in the United States are light trucks, SUVs and vans. Contrary to the marketed perception that trucks and SUVs are more durable and safer than cars, highway safety data shows that on average these vehicles provide less rollover protection for their drivers than most cars. Tragically, a greater number of fatalities result from SUV rollover crashes than in car rollover accidents.

At Forrest & Bourne, we have demonstrated our leadership in pursuing vehicle rollover lawsuits in Southern Indiana and Kentucky. Not only do we bring personal injury lawsuits against manufacturers, we also write and lecture on the topic. We are attorneys with an extensive experience addressing mechanical engineering issues. We have a strong understanding of accident reconstruction. Not all lawyers  have the expertise to evaluate the cause of the rollover, contributing factors such as tire pressure recommendations, tire failure or tread separation, and whether the vehicle design itself is defective. We do.

The law requires that the designer or manufacturer of any vehicle make the vehicle as safe as they reasonably can. This ../Includes both designing the vehicle to help drivers avoid accidents and to protect the occupants of the vehicle when they can't. As a result of a rollover accident, the vehicle or tire manufacturer is held accountable for the death, pain and suffering, medical expenses, and lost earnings it caused. Our experience handling these cases is your assurance that your case is in capable hands.
